Abstracts
The abstract paintings come about from random thoughts floating in Lalita’s mind and looking at torn bits of unused paintings that are in the studio...Lalita picks them up moves them around the canvas surface, trying to select a theme, a direction, a color scheme...then she adds some bits and pieces of hand stained papers and a painting slowly begins to emerge.
Working with light and darks, an emerging pattern, the bits of painted image and the final image slowly emerges....much thought, seeing, evaluating, and coalescing goes on before Lalita is satisfied with the art piece. Sometimes it is more difficult to create an abstract painting than to paint “reality” and make it work.
